Peter leads the team in business strategy at Attention Span Media. For 15 years, he was head of the Cambridge Massachusetts-based strategy-consulting firm, Global Outsight, where he successfully rescued dying companies. Peter is also President and CEO of KHIZ-TV Los Angeles and of Initial Broadcasting of California. With all this on his plate, Peter clearly requires very little sleep.
Director of Business Development / C.O.O.
Garrett deals with all the numbers and legal matters at Attention Span Media. He is also VP and General Manager of KHIZ-TV Los Angeles, CFO of Initial Broadcasting of California, Executive Producer of IE Live news on KHIZ-TV, Co-founder of Global Outsight and a Harvard grad. And on top of all this, he's good looking, which somehow doesn't seem fair.
Producer / Co-founder
A.J. is a Producer on the AMC original series "Sunday Morning Shootout.” A.J. produced the series' Emmy campaign, as well as the Yahoo! featurette, “Inside the Academy Awards.” Starting his entertainment career at David E. Kelley Productions, and needing to be even busier, he earned his MFA in the Producer’s Program at UCLA’s TFT. AJ is a graduate of Harvard College.
Business Development Advisor
Patrick advises mobile and online business development initiatives at Attention Span Media. Patrick started his career living and breathing digital media as a management consultant with Adventis and then market analyst at Yankee Group. His writings have appeared in multiple industry publications and the Financial Times. He moved on to manage business development at Disney/ABC TV's Digital Media Group before joining the ASM team. Patrick is a graduate of Boston College. He is now managing digital initiatives for Entertainment Studios, Inc.
Chief Creative Officer
Brian Singleton joined the ASM team in 2007 as a creator of Dorm Life. He quickly dug his hands deep into ASM’s other cookie jars to see what else he could find. With the success of Dorm Life, Brian was brought on to the ASM team full time. Currently he is a Creative Producer with ASM, developing fresh and innovative content. His writing and acting background come in handy when creating dynamic stories and compelling programming concepts for ASM and their clients. Brian graduated early from the UCLA Communications Department with honors. He began his entertainment career working in television production for various primetime sitcoms. Brian also worked as a News Producer for KHIZ TV, but has since shifted gears to focus on new media.
Creative Producer
Chris Smith joined forces with ASM in 2007 as the co-director and fellow creator of Dorm Life. After graduating from UCLA with a B.A. in acting, he came on to work as a Creative Producer full time. Having experience both in front and behind the camera, Chris has used his skills to write/direct/and act in his first feature film entitled “Shadow in the Trees” which has been accepted to numerous film festivals and has garnered attention in various independent film markets. Additionally, his background as a professional juggler has given him many opportunities to travel the world and take the stage at various televised venues and sporting events. Now juggling responsibilities in the office, Chris is applying his skill set to make exciting new strides in the world of new media.
Writer
Nasim Pedrad graduated from UCLA's School of Theatre, Film and Television in 2003 and has been on the verge of "blowin' up" ever since. She has written and performed comedy at The Groundlings, the Upright Citizens Brigade, Improv Olympic and the CBS Sketch Comedy Showcase. She's also received an LA Weekly "Best Comedic Performance of the Year" Award as the lead in the comedic spoof After School Special. In addition to appearances in Gilmore Girls, ER and Campus Ladies, Nasim has starred in a number of grad films no one will ever see. She is thrilled to continue the run of her one-woman show Me, Myself and Iran at the Upright Citizens Brigade, and looks forward to marrying rich so she can continue to write and perform comedy.
President / Technology Strategy
Josh's experience at the intersection of technology, media and business began 14 years ago at Forbes Magazine, where he chronicled the brainiacs and billionaires behind the turn-of-the-century tech upheaval. Since 2002 he has been a contributing editor at Wired Magazine and a writer for Vanity Fair, Outside, and shelfloads of other publications. In the last two years he’s also worked as a copywriter for advertising juggernauts Wieden + Kennedy and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. A cable series based on his Wired story “Drug Test Cowboys,” about professional pharmaceutical trial participants, is in development at Comedy Central. Josh graduated from Yale in 1992 with a BA in English. His efforts to dunk a basketball are the subject of Dunkumentary, a documentary due out in late 2008.
Chief Designer / User Interface Architect
Tyson is ASM's chief graphic designer and user interface architect. Tyson received his Masters in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania School of Design, where he honed his truly innovative design style and skills. Previously, he worked as a user-interface designer, graphic designer and web developer for Digitas, Avery Dennison, iBelong and Global Outsight LLC. Tyson received his BA in Electronic Media, Arts & Communication from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Writer
Jim Brandon was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, spending most of his youth in Menlo Park. He graduated with honors from UCLA with a degree in Communications Studies. While at UCLA, Jim performed as a member of Company in three consecutive Spring Sings, creating friendships that would, in turn, lead to the creation of both Dorm Life and SockTubePresents, for which Jim is both a writer and performer.
